    University filling posts

Thompson Rivers University will fill senior administrative positions in 2010, including its president as well as other key posts.

University spokesman Christopher Seguin said there are a number of administrative vacancies, including two of the most senior positions on campus.

A search is underway for a new associate vice-president of TRU World, to replace Cyndi McLeod who left to take a senior position at Vancouver Island's Royal Roads University.

The university also expects to name a new vice-president academic and provost to replace Mark Evered, who is now president of University of Fraser Valley.

Both positions have been vacant for most of the year.

Seguin said a lengthy process is undertaken to fill senior administrative positions that typically includes a search committee and a private recruiting firm.

Even after an applicant is named, there is a lag time before they come to campus.

"You need to give them time to make the transition."

The university is also searching for a new president, to replace Kathleen Scherf, who was fired in September, and is recruiting a dean to head its new law school.

Seguin said TRU is also recruiting for a new dean of arts.
