YOU ASKED: How long is the Marigold Mile?
— Wayne Lachapelle
OUR ANSWER: Getting the confession out of the way off the top, City of Kamloops parks operations supervisor Shawn Cook says Marigold Mile really is not a mile. There are two Marigold Miles (or not miles) in the city. One is on Columbia Street near the top of First Avenue. That garden of marigolds is 150 metres long. The second median of marigolds is in the 1500 block of Tranquille Road and it is 67 metres. So, in fact, says Cook, the two Marigold Miles together are one-eighth of a mile. “Marigold Mile sounded better,” he said. “It just rolled off the tongue.”
