SH: Doc tracks world’s toughest endurance race
The award-winning film Bicycle Dreams: The True Story of the Race Across America will be presented Sunday at TRU as a fundraiser for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Winner of seven film festival awards, the documentary shadows cyclists on the 4,800-kilometre ultra-marathon, considered the world’s toughest endurance race.
“It really does get inside the heads of several of the solo racers,” said Trina Radford, manager of the Kamloops chapter of the society.
Ian Fillinger, a Kamloops cyclist, will be part of the 10-day race that starts June 10. He has dedicated his entry in the race to finding a cure for MS. His wife, Michelle, lives with MS.
The film will be shown at 3 and 7 p.m. Sunday in Room 1020 of the International Building. For more information on Fillinger’s bid, see www.raceacrossamerica.ca. Tickets are $10 at the door and all proceeds go to the MS Society.
