Assistant coach Cassie Bloy, Stephanie Bohn, Victoria Phillips, Frankie Dobler, Sophie Kastelan, Elysse Charman, Rylee Christenson, Jennifer Bohn, Timothy Thom and head coach Fairlite Rogers. These skaters competed at the Kootenay regional championships in Cranbrook in January, taking home a total of eight medals.

You know girls just wanna have fun — and so will the Beach Boys when the Creston Valley Figure Skating Club hits the ice this Saturday.

Spinning through the Century is a figure skating extravaganza featuring music from the 1920s through the 1990s. Almost all of the club's skaters, ranging from ages three to adult, will take part with solos, duets and group numbers.

It has been a very good season for the local figure skating club. Most of the StarSkaters — the senior levels in the club — have competed through the region, and the club hosted its own in-house competition for all skating levels.

"This was the very first competitive experience for many of our younger skaters," says head coach Fairlite Rogers. "Saturday's ice show will be their opportunity to perform in front of an audience."

All of the skaters have been working hard on their programs. They are looking forward to showing off their skills in dance numbers that range from the charleston to disco and beyond.

Spinning through the Century runs March 6 at the John Bucyk Arena. The matinee performance begins at 1 p.m., with an early evening show to follow at 5.

Tickets are $6 for adults, and $4 for seniors and students, and are available at Black Bear Books or at the door.
