The driver of a vehicle involved in a hit and run on the Trans-Canada Highway at Chase might not even know he or she drove over the man, police said Tuesday.
Investigators believe Craig Jordan Sauls, 29 was lying on the highway near the intersection at Coburn Road when he was killed early Saturday morning.
Cpl. Mike O’Flynn of Central Interior Traffic Services said Tuesday Sauls was run over by a large vehicle.
“It was a pickup or larger vehicle. It was definitely not a small car,” said O’Flynn.
Sauls died on a straight stretch of highway. He was wearing a white jacket, and should have been visible if he was upright. Lying on the ground, he would be difficult to see, said O’Flynn.
Motorists driving in the area at about 1 a.m. Saturday are asked to phone O’Flynn at 250-828-3159.
He also asked anyone who saw Sauls Friday night to phone police and help piece together what happened to him in the hours before his death.
Sauls lived on the Little Shuswap Indian Reserve.
