    How soon council forgets

It seems that City council has forgotten in a short week what the will of the people means. Last week at the ACC public forum the people of Kamloops clearly showed their opposition to this plant, and City council, including the mayor, agreed, Peter Milobar even going so far as to say the will of the people needs to be listened to.

Fast forward to this week's council meeting where the will of the people was not listened to. The people of this city have stated clearly in a referendum that we do not want water meters. In fact we can change the consumption of water use for almost no money in this town by going to a three-day watering system. Instead, City council wants to spend $14 million putting in water meters that would see a reduction in water use that is less than going to a three-day watering system.

I think the best way to help with water conservation is to put in automatic timers that water every two to three days on City property. There is no reason that every field and green area owned by the City needs to be watered every single night. The school board is also part of this problem. They water every night as well. Controlling these two massive users of water should go a long way in reducing demand on the water plant.

One thing I did learn this week; only two people currently on council will get my vote next election. They were the ones who listened to the people of Kamloops.
