Street should have been closed to traffic

To the Editor:

"Disappointment" is all I can say when it came to the end of the Creston Valley Blossom Festival parade. I have lived here for over 30 years and lately have greatly enjoyed taking my family to the street fair, the vendors and activities that follow the parade. We enjoy walking the main street, touring the tents and outdoor activities, going into the local stores and all the visiting that takes place when you have the time and room to wander downtown.

This year, the parade was better than ever and we really enjoyed it with all the music and floats. We were standing in front of Bahamas General Store on that beautiful sunny morning taking in all the excitement, and the parade just seemed to keep coming and coming.

We didn't know that it had really ended because the organizers took up the barriers and normal traffic followed the parade down the route. I am very disappointed that they did this. In my opinion, they wrecked the afternoon by letting traffic back on Canyon Street. We tried to visit the outdoor vendors but when you try to cram that many people onto the sidewalks and on 11th Avenue, it was crazy, so we left.

My kids and I were disappointed and I hope that they don't to it again next year. We love the activities that the town has to offer but will not put up with being cramped in order to do what we have normally done in years past.
