OLGA ELIZABETH CHARD

Olga Elizabeth Chard passed away suddenly at the South Okanagan General Hospital, Oliver, B.C., on Friday, May 7, 2010, at the age of 91 years. Olga was predeceased by her husband Louis, son Allan, her parents and eight siblings. She was a loving mother to sons: Ronald (Lucy) of Creston, B.C., Wayne (Rose) of Hixon, B.C., and daughter, Linda of Osoyoos, B.C. She was the dearest grandmother to five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Olga was born in Aldergrove, B.C., on November 18, 1918, and was the second youngest of nine children. Olga and Louis married in July of 1939 in Aldergrove. In the 1940s they moved to Kettle Valley where Louis worked there in a small portable mill until moving to Westbridge with his own mill in various locations. When they moved to Rhone in 1946, they purchased a small farm. Olga enjoyed cooking and gardening and was a devoted mother and wife. She will be remembered by her family and fiends for her kindness, her caring ways and her special interest in all our lives.

A memorial service celebrating Olga’s life will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2010, at 2 p.m., at the Pavilion, Rock Creek Fairground. The service will be officiated by Rev. J. Foster. Cremation has taken place and Olga’s ashes will be interred at a later date. Family would appreciate donations in memory of Olga to be sent to your favourite charity.
