    Government robs from seniors

Just another example of how our wonderful government is helping our seniors spend their money.

My mother has lived in the Village of Chase all her life. She has had the same post office box since 1965. This was a free service so long as she was a resident of the village. She recently had to move to an assisted living complex in the Village of Chase. She still has a physical apartment and street address, and is capable of going to the post office daily to pick up her mail.

When she went to sign for the post office box, as she has done yearly for 40 some years, she was told she was no longer a resident and the box was going to cost her over $100 a year from now on. She is only four blocks from the post office.

Does Canada Post really need to penalize our seniors for continuing to have a productive and active life?

Our seniors struggle to make ends meet on a daily basis. I would think a post office box is a small concession to give them, considering everything they have given us. My family is in a state of shock. Given the price of medical and transportation for the elderly keeps going up, this is just one more example of how the branches of the government are taking advantage of a segment of our society that should be looked after, not robbed by their own country.
