Bummer’s Flats fire quickly extinguished

Southeast Fire Centre crews responded to a fire on July 24, 2010 in the Bummers Flats area between Kimberley and Canal Flats.

Karlie Shaughnessy of the Southeast Fire Centre says the fire was discovered at 1 pm and only grew to .8 hectares before crews contained it.

The fire danger rating for the Cranbrook Zone is currently moderate to high with one pocket of extreme danger in the north of the zone. Those conditions are subject to change however if the hot dry weather continues.
