The Boundary Economic Development Committee (BDEC) is hoping that a new logo and brand will boost tourism in the region.
Until noon on Aug. 3, the BDEC will be accepting proposals from qualified teams that will help the Boundary develop a brand and visual identity.
The BDEC says that project will include the development of a new logo for the region, a "positioning line," a colour scheme and a special graphic for use in letterhead, on the Internet, business cards and other printed materials such as visitors guides and brochures.
"The brand that we're looking for is a brand that will bring tourists to the region, it will be an identity, it's much more than a logo or positioning statement," explains Jennifer Wetmore, the BDEC's economic development coordinator. "The BDEC will implement that on all of its marketing and media materials in an attempt to capture tourism activity that we don't currently have."
She says it's a marketing campaign with the hard material development of an identity.
A winning brand will be selected after the Aug. 3 deadline and Wetmore estimates it will be sooner than later.
"It will go to the BDEC on (Aug. 10) and I am hoping - I have no guarantees - that a decision will be made that same day," she said.
"It depends on the caliber of the proposals and where the committee wants to go with it."
The successful team will then have until Dec. 31 to complete the project.
The BDEC has no idea what the proposals will look like or how many submissions will come in but there have been inquiries made about the project.
"We've had quite a bit of interest from some organizations here and outside of the region and we're certainly hoping we have a good selection of proposals to work through," Wetmore said.
Wetmore says that the branding project has been on the BDEC's agenda for quite some time but was only recently able to pursue it.
"We finally were able to access funding for it, it's a tourism-related brand that will be for the entire region," she said.
