Foreman can’t wait to host old teammate

On game night, Kimberley Dynamiters fans have gone home happy so far this year.

With two more dates at the Civic Centre this weekend, the team is hoping to continue that trend.

The Dynamiters host the Golden Rockets tonight at 7:30 and the expansion Osoyoos Coyotes on Saturday.

Kimberley is 2-2 on the KIJHL campaign so far, and both wins have come at home.

?I?m hoping it?s our home team that plays again and we get these two wins, then try to figure it out on the road,? said head coach and general manager Garry Jacklin. ?We?ve got quite a few games on the road (starting next week) so I?m hoping that we get it figured out in a hurry. There are a few things that we?ve been doing during practice so I think we?re on the right track.?

Forward Brennan Foreman figures road success will come once Kimberley?s many rookies become accustomed to the peculiar arenas that dot the KIJHL landscape.

Home success, he reckons, should continue apace.

?You always want to play the best in front of the home crowd and please the fans,? he said.

On Saturday he has the added incentive of lining up opposite former linemate Thierry Martine.

Before taking a job in junior A hockey this summer, former Kimberley GM Kevin MacKay had traded Martine to the Coyotes for futures that eventually became cash. That puts the dynamic forward much closer to his home in Oliver.

He?s thriving there, with six goals already in four games, but Martine had some good times with Kimberley as well.

One night in Invermere last season, he collected five points, helping set up four Foreman goals.

?I look forward to playing against old teammates all the time,? said Foreman. ?It?s a good test of the skill that I have and his skill because we never played against each other except when he was in Princeton, and we didn?t know each other then.?

For his part, Jacklin said Foreman has the skill to play junior A hockey, and he?s doing what he can to get him there.

?It means a lot when it comes from the coach, saying that you should be at the next level,? said Foreman. ?(I will) just come to the rink, be prepared for every game and go out there and give it my all and hopefully the puck gets in the net and I get a few opportunities along the way.?

The Marysville native is confident that the team that Jacklin has put together can do good things this year.

?We?re getting better, and it starts back with the goaltender,? said Foreman. ?Tory Caldwell is a big leader on the team. Even though he doesn?t have a C on the chest, he?s always an inspiration for the boys. He?s going to lead us pretty far I think this year.?

Foreman has had success with Jacklin as coach, dating back to pee wees.

But as well as he knows the head coach, Foreman knows another member of the staff better: assistant Jordan Foreman.

?Big brothers can get in the way sometimes, but I take his opinions to heart,? said Brennan. ?He lets me know what I need to do to be better and I?ll take that before anyone else?s word.?

One way big brother gets in the way is by having played for the Dynamiters a few years ago, and having established his name first. Mix-ups are common; just last week one of Brennan?s two goals against Columbia Valley was attributed to Jordan over the Civic Centre P.A.

?I chuckle about it, but deep down it?s like, ?Oh, geez.?? said Foreman. ?My mom has the same problem. She always calls me Jordan, and Jordan Brennan so it?s just ridiculous.?

So if the Dynamiters are looking for an emergency replacement to announce goals and penalties, Foreman doesn?t want them rushing to his mother.

?Definitely not. It would be all over the place.?
