They may have been small in number but approximately 30 students, teachers and parents from Selkirk Secondary and McKim School managed to collect almost 1800 pounds of food in the Halloween for Hunger Drive.
The final tally was 1,797 pounds of food collected and that amount will be doubled through the Shaw Cable Campbell's Foods program.
"Unfortunately there were not enough collectors to cover every house in the area but several missed houses called in for pick ups or delivered the food themselves to the food bank," said Malcolm Fruin, Food Bank Director.
"This is a huge amount of food and will greatly help satisfy demand for help in the fall when client numbers increase. Thanks to all collectors, donors and volunteers who weighed and sorted the food."
Fruin says the Shaw/Campbell's Together Is Amazing program runs until November 15, so any delivers made to the Food Bank on Monday, Wednesday or Friday between 10:30 am and 3 pm will be gladly accepted to add to this program.
