    Students call for tuition drop

TRU's student union is calling on leadership candidates from both parties to look at tuition rates.

Jamshid Mirzabekov, vice-president external of Thompson Rivers University Student Union, said students heading back to school this winter will pay more than $4,100 a year in tuition and fees.

It is calling for a 10 per cent rollback.

"For many students that 10 per cent is the difference between attending post-secondary education or not."

Mirzabekov said B.C. has a declining number of students and government must take steps to halt the slide.
