Alissa Hibbert posted three consecutive shutouts to lead the Kamloops Vibe senior A women’s hockey team to the provincial title in Fort St. John on the weekend.
The Vibe opened the tournament with a 1-0 victory over the Dawson Creek Elite on Saturday morning. Jenna Ormondy scored an unassisted marker for the Vibe, which outshot its opponents 37-13.
Kamloops ran over the North Peace Eagles on Saturday night, winning 6-0. Chelsey Hickey scored twice, with Melinda Smith getting a goal and two helpers, and Shelby Easton, Rochelle Smith and Nikki Eustache singling.
Nicole Oud had three assists.
In Sunday’s final, the Vibe again beat the Eagles 6-0.
Melinda Smith and Alyssa Reid each scored twice in the victory, and Oud and Emily Edmundson singled.
The Vibe has qualified for the Canadian Western Shield Championships to play in the AA division. The Western Shield is scheduled for April 7-11 in Winnipeg.

Josh Slager of Kamloops won a fight at a B.C. Boxing event in Vernon on the weekend.
Slager beat Marty Aereola of the North Burnaby Boxing Club on points in a senior 64-kilogram bout. Slager dominated the third round to secure the victory and improve his record to 6-2.
Slager won’t have a lot of time to revel in his victory — he is off to Prince George on the weekend to take part in a silver gloves tournament.

Alexzandra Smith of the Kamloops Track and Field Club picked up three medals at the Alberta indoor track and field championships in Edmonton on the weekend.
Smith, competing in the midget girls event, hit 2.55 metres to win the pole vault. She was second in the long jump (5.26m) and second in the triple jump (9.26m).
Kala Stone picked up a gold medal in the youth girls 1,500m, winning in four minutes 52.52 seconds. She also was fourth in the 800m, finishing in 2:20.22.
Renee Hall picked up a gold medal in the junior girls triple jump (10.50m), and a bronze medal in the long jump (4.89m). She also was 12th in the 200m, finishing in 29.01.
Madison Allen was fifth in the midget girls shot put (8.05m) and 10th in the high jump (1.30m).
Jesse Mohr was first in the youth boys pole vault (3.00m), seventh in the long jump (5.26m) and 31st in the 60m (8.06). Daniel Elke won the youth boys 60m hurdles (8.82), was sixth in the 200m (24.00) and 11th in the 60m (7.56).
Evan Hall was second in the junior boys 800m (1:57.92) and eighth in the 400m (53.62), while Spencer Allen was third in the junior boys pole vault (3.80m) and 15th in both the 200m (25.16) and 60m (7.61).
Riley Kouwenhoven was sixth in the midget boys 1,200m (3:47.65) and eighth in the 800m (2:26.00).

Heather Waterous of the Kamloops Classics Swim Club won a bronze medal at the B.C. senior swimming championships in Vancouver on the weekend.
Waterous finished the 400m individual medley in five minutes 30.83 seconds, good for third. She also was 10th in the 200m IM (2:37.38) and 12th in the 100m butterfly (1:13.20).
Shaina Kloska was seventh in the 200m backstroke (2:47.86). Dylana Milobar was fifth in the 50m breaststroke (37.31), 10th in the 200m breaststroke (2:55.06) and 14th in the 100m breaststroke (1:19.08).
The Classics took a team of 21 to the Kelowna Pentathlon event on the weekend, and 10-year-old Austin Phillips won all 10 of his races.
Phillips set team records in the 200m freestyle and 100m and 200m backstroke.
Paetyn Freeze, 10, finished first in nine races and 10th in another. She set club records in the 200m backstroke, 200m butterfly, 200m freestyle and 400m IM.
Megan Dalke, 12, won the 100m breaststroke, 100m butterfly, 100m freestyle, 200m butterfly, 200m breaststroke, 200m freestyle and the 400m IM. She also was third in the 200m backstroke.
Marina Ackermann’s time of 3:33.97 in the 200m breaststroke was good enough to qualify the 11-year-old for the AA provincial swim championships in Kelowna from June 24-26.
Ben Kloska finished the 200m IM in 3:11.69 to qualify in the 10-and-under boys for the Swim Stars provincial championships, and in Kelowna in June.

The River City Racers speed skating club took part in the Funale meet in Vernon on Saturday.
Matej Pederson, 9, won six events, while nine-year-old Tim Mburu had two second-place finishes, a third, two fifths and a sixth-place finish.
Margaret Jean Willis, 6, finished first in four races and second in another, while her eight-year-old brother, Alexander, had four second-place finishes and a fourth. Older brother Delray, 11, was second in two races and fourth in two others.
The Racers also won the Handicap 500-metre competition, which compared individual times to personal bests and then added together with other team members’ performances. The Racers team comprised Roman Hessel, Anneke and Matej Pederson, Margaret Jean, Alexander and Delray Willis, and Josie, Sara and Eric Spence.

The Kamloops Rugby Club Raiders junior boys team will go on a 14-day trip to Ireland and England on a winning note.
The Raiders beat the Pitt Ridge Bruins 80-0 in Pitt Meadows in their first outdoor game after four months of training.
The team is to leave Thursday for Ireland.
