The Kamloops Rugby Club first divisions scored an 18-16 victory over the Brit Lions in Delta on the weekend.
Playing in excessively windy conditions, the KRC side got tries from Brandon Kicia, Mark Haywood-Farmer and Trevor Jensen. Cole Levitt kicked a penalty.
The seconds won their game by forfeit, so the score will be shown as 5-0.
Meanwhile, the host KRC women’s team beat Simon Fraser Univerity, 28-22.
Daniell Grant, with two, Kelsey Winter, Maria Grant and Emily Young scored tries for Kamloops, with Maria Grant also kicking a convert.

The Kamloops Vibe brought home the bronze medal from the Western Canada Shield, the senior women’s hockey championship that was played in Winnipeg on the Winnipeg.
The tournament comprised 10 teams from the four western provinces split into two divisions.
The Vibe opened by dropping a 4-3 decision to the defending-champion Winnipeg Aces. Melinda Smith, Emily Edmundson and Nikki Eustache scored for Kamloops.
The Manitoba Predators then scored a 3-1 victory over the Vibe, which got its goal from Shelby Easton.
On Saturday morning, Ashley Fisher earned the shutout as the Vibe beat the Regina Vipers, 4-0. Rochelle Smith, Alyssa Reid, Eustache and Melinda Smith had the goals.
Later in the day, the Grande Prairie Panthers edged the Vibe, 2-1, with Kamloops getting its goal from Edmundson.
In the bronze-medal game, the Vibe beat the Manitoba Predators, 5-1, on three goals by Reid and singles from Edmundson and Shelby Easton. Fisher was in goal and was the game MVP.

The midget AAA Kamloops Player’s Bench RiverDogs swept the host White Rock Tritons — 6-1 and 10-1 — in a season-opening doubleheader on Saturday, then had two Sunday games wiped out by rain.
In the opener, Kamloops scored two in the second inning and added three more in the fourth.
Spencer Lord started and picked up the victory, giving up two hits and walking two over four innings. He struck out three. Jake Harris and Leyton Edye finished up.
Colin Rintoul doubled and drove in two runs, with Connor Kozak and Blayne Halland each singling twice.
In the second game, the RiverDogs scored at least a run in each of the game’s seven innings.
Colton Thompson went five innings for the victory, allowing a run on three hits and three walks. He had one strikeout. Dylan Luison pitched the final two innings, striking out four.
At the plate, Rintoul doubled, singled twice and drove in a run, while Kozak had a double and two singles, scored a run and drove in another.
On Sunday, the RiverDogs’ doubleheader with the host Cloverdale Spurs was rained out.
This weekend, the RiverDogs will be in Penticton for two games Saturday, with the teams returning to Kamloops for a Sunday doubleheader. The opener, at Canada Games Field, starts at 11 a.m.

Cheyenne Betz of Kamloops repeated as a double-gold medallist at the B.C. International Taekwon-do Federation provincial championships at the Tournament Capital Centre on Saturday.
The event drew 212 competitors, including 16 from Kamloops.
Betz, a Canadian champion who won gold at nationals in November, won pattern and sparring in pre-junior black belts.
Triston Arnold, 11, also won two gold medals, while Tyler Floen, 10, won two silver medals in the pre-junior boys black belt division.

The South Kamloops Titans won Valleyview Secondary’s Meltdown junior girls soccer tournament on the weekend, by going 4-0. South Kam beat Vernon 3-1 in the final, after getting past Valleyview 2-1 in a semifinal, and Brock 5-0 and Sa-Hali 3-0 in preliminary play.
