An Eagle Bay resident died when he was thrown from his pick-up truck during a rollover in the Shuswap, police said Tuesday.
Witnesses told police the truck was travelling well above the posted limit of 80 km/h before the driver lost control on a curve at the intersection of Squilax-Anglemont and Fraser roads Monday night, said Chase RCMP Cpl. Mark Skotnicki.
The vehicle went off the road to the right, flipped several times and came to a rest back on the road, Skotnicki said in a press release.
The 49-year-old driver, who was the lone occupant of the pickup, was ejected from the vehicle. First responders tried to resuscitate him at the scene, but he died from his injuries.
Speed and liquor are believed to be contributing factors in the crash. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
