The TRU WolfPack has two teams in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association national rankings this week.
The women’s soccer team, under head coach Tom McManus, won twice on the weekend, beating the nationally ranked Langara Falcons 4-2 and Quest Kermodes 1-0, and now sits 13th in the rankings with one weekend left in PacWest play.
The NAIT Ooks (ACAC), Humber Hawks (OCAA) and Fx Garneau Elans (RSEQ) are the top three ranked teams in the nation. Langara fell from fourth to sixth, with Quest slipping from 11th to 14th.
Meanwhile, the WolfPack cross-country team, under the direction of Jack Miller and Duaine Seibel, remains 11 th in the CCAA rankings. UBC-Okanagan is the top-ranked PacWest school, in 10th. The MacEwen Griffins (ACAC), Humber Hawks (OCAA) and Red Deer Queens (ACAC) are the top three ranked schools in cross-country.
The 2011 CCAA cross-country championships will be held Nov. 12 at McArthur Island.
At the same time, the WolfPack men’s volleyball team, with one exhibition match remaining, is ranked 10th in the CIS preseason top 10.
This is the sixth straight year in which the WolfPack has made the top 10.
“We have had some good preseason results,” TRU head coach Pat Hennelly said in a news release, pointing to victories over Calgary, UBC and Saskatchewan. “Some might have thought (those were) better than expected results. I think all those teams — especially Saskatchewan — have beaten teams in the top 10. It gives us some great confidence going into the season.”
The Trinity Western Spartans, Alberta Golden Bears and Manitoba Bisons are the top three teams in the early rankings. Calgary (4), UBC (5) and Brandon (8) are other Canada West teams to be ranked.
The WolfPack concludes its exhibition season Friday, 7:30 p.m., against the UBC-Okanagan Heat at the TCC.

In PacWest men’s soccer, the Langara Falcons have had a victory taken away and awarded to the UBC-Okanagan Heat.
On Sunday, the teams played to a 2-2 draw in Kelowna. However, it turns out that Langara used an ineligible player who should have sat out due to yellow card accumulation.
Therefore, the draw has been turned into a 1-0 victory for the Heat.
The victory gives the Heat a 4-3-2 record, good for 15 points and second place in Group B, and lifts it three points clear of the WolfPack (3-3-3).
