    Minor Hockey Roundup: Remembrance Day tourneys order of weekend

    BANTAM TIER 1

    The Jardine’s Blazers played host to the Randy Lindros Memorial tournament on the weekend, with teams attending from Winnipeg, Calgary, Wenatchee, Wash., Prince George, Abbotsford, Mission, Cloverdale, Kelowna and Victoria.

    The Blazers went 2-2, losing out in the quarterfinals.

    The Blazers opened with a 5-3 victory over Abbotsford on Friday. Dexter Robinson, with two, Addison Bazian, Robbie Johnson and Nick Chyzowski scored for Kamloops. Robinson and Kevin Davis had two assists each. Josh Shank was in goal.

    Also on Friday, the Blazers edged Prince George, 5-4, with Davis, Robinson, Chyzowski, Bazian and Alex Winters getting the goals. Chyzowski had two assists. Bailey De Palma went the distance in goal.

    Calgary got past the Blazers 5-4 on Saturday, with Kamloops getting two goals from Robinson and one each from Jacob Faraday and Maxwell James. Chyzowski had two assists with Shank in goal.

    In the Saturday quarterfinal, Winnipeg beat the Blazers, 7-1. Winters scored for Kamloops, which had De Palma in goal.

    The Calgary Bronks, who were 4-0 in the round-robin, and Cloverdale Colts (3-1), met in the final. A result was not available.

    BANTAM TIER 3

    The North Kamloops Lions scored a 4-1 victory over Westside at Valleyview Arena on Friday.

    The Lions, who are unbeaten in their last 13 games, got a goal and two assists from Darion Nordick and two goals from Tony Dennis. Bryce McDonald also scored, with Felix Nachtigal getting two assists.

    Matt Hicketts and Caelen Holling split the Lions’ goaltending duties.

    ATOM DEVELOPMENT

    The Western Roofing Spitfires fought hard but couldn’t get past Seafair, falling 6-1 in semifinal play at the Kamloops Remembrance Day Classic tournament on Sunday at Memorial Arena.

    Josh Van Unen scored the lone goal for the Spitfires in support of netminder Nathan Nesci.

    The Spitfires had advanced to the semifinal with a 2-1 round-robin record.

    The tourney got off to a rocky start Friday as Western Roofing fell 7-3 to the Kelowna Raiders. Game MVP Kaden Dempsey, Van Unen and Keaton Dell scored for the Spitfires, while Nesci and Bailey Monteith split goaltending duties.

    The Spitfires roared back with two victories on Saturday to snare their semifinal berth.

    First, Van Unen and Jayden Russell each scored twice as the Spitfires doubled the Penticton Jr. Vees, 6-3. Dell and Reed Watson also scored in support of winning netminder Nesci. Van Unen was named game MVP.

    Then, Cole Howaniec had two goals and two assists, and Noah Bradley tallied twice in the Spitfires’ 8-3 victory over Mission. Van Unen added a goal and three assists, while Russell, Harjun Serown and Harrison Ewert each added singles. Monteith stood tall in the Spitfires’ net. Watson was the game MVP.

    The Spitfires will play host to a pair of home games in OMAHA league play this weekend. Vernon 2 will pay a visit on Saturday, 9:30 a.m., at Memorial Arena. On Sunday, Western Roofing will take on Kelowna 2, 12:15 p.m., at Brock Arena.

    The 7 Point Millworks Jets played four games in the Remembrance Day Classic.

    They opened with a 6-3 victory over the Vernon Wolfpack on Friday. Taylor Kaban got the goaltending victory, while Jacob Proulx, with two, Alex Erichuk, Jayden Grant, Carter Adams and Adam Harrison had the goals.
    On Saturday, the Jets dropped a 4-0 decision to Williams Lake. Elijah Joly was in goal for the Jets.

    In a Saturday afternoon game, the Seafair Islanders beat the Jets, 6-1. Haden Nordick scored for the Jets, who had Joly in goal.

    On Sunday morning, the Jets scored a 3-2 victory over the Penticton Jr. Vees. Proulx, Zane Ferguson and Harrison had the goals, while Joly again was in goal.

    The Royal Purple Mystics, a peewee Tier 1 girls team, opened the Remembrance Day tournament with a 4-3 loss to Kelowna on Friday.

    Katelynn Merritt, Makenna Fitzgerald and Anna Morrish scored for the Mystics, while goaltender Sydney Carter faced 44.

    On Saturday, Salmon Arm scored a 2-1 victory over the Mystics, who got their goal from Anna Morish. Goaltender Ashlynn Neurauter faced 12 shots.


    Also on Saturday, Langley scored a 7-3 victory over the Mystics. Merritt, with two, and Kathrine Walkley scored for the Mystics, while Carter stopped 35 shots.

    On Sunday, Fitzgerald scored three goals in a 5-2 victory over Quesnel. Morish and Ts’setkwu Dunstan added a goal each, while Neurauter stopped nine shots.

    PEEWEE RECREATION

    Pierce Huser scored six goals Sunday, leading the Blades to a 12-3 victory over the Blue Frost.

    Tyson Koehl and Connor Hall, each with two, Jacob Pilon and Dawson Reid also scored for the winners, who got two assists from Calum Carrigan. Ethan Herdier was in goal for the Blades.

    The Blue Frost, which had Zack Berrevoets in goal, got goals from Nik Shufletoski, Tristan Ernst and Ethan Smith.

    The Havoc and Fury played to a 5-5 draw on Sunday at Interior Savings Centre.

    The Havoc got two goals from Jayden Davidson and singles from Brett Steptoe, Kai Robidoux and Landon Wamboldt. Dimitri Louvros scored twice for the Fury, while Kyle Bergman, Dylan Dudley and Nolan Dicostanzo added one each.

    Kaleb Virgo was in goal for the Havoc, while the Fury went with McKenzie Povoas.

    On Sunday, the Fury beat the Golden Bears, 9-8, at McArthur Island Sport and Event Centre.

    Dicostanzo led the Fury with four goals, while Louvros scored three times. Singles came from Skye Connors and Bergman. Andrew Warner, with three, John Black, with two, Jacob Stewart, Arjun Gill and Jordan Devries counted for Team 9.

    Brendan Worsfold got the goaltending decision over Josh Humphrey.

    BANTAM TIER 4

    The Thompson Hotel Rockies dropped a 5-2 decision to Merritt Tier 3 on Sunday.

    Ryan Ignace and Keaton Nobel scored for Kamloops, which split its goaltending duties between Cole Feere and Payton Shindel.

    PEEWEE HOUSE

    The Predators scored a 6-4 victory over Team Burgundy.

    Jensen Brayden and Cordell Davidson had two goals each for the winners, with Lee McKinnon and James Ridge getting one each. Colin Clark was in goal.

    Team Burgundy, which used James Lamb and Leslie Teagan in goal, got its goals from Trevor Banks, Jordan Brown, Cole McLeod and Rebekah Ferguson.

    PEE WEE TIER 3

    The North Kamloops Lions dropped a 7-2 exhibition game decision to the host Clearwater Raiders on Saturday.

    Breckin Erichuk and Justin MacInnes scored for the Lions, who had only 11 skaters. Ethan Langenegger and Nolan Mongey shared the goaltending duties.

    On Sunday, the Lions and Vernon Nixon Wenger Jets played to a 2-2 draw in an OMAHA game.

    Garrett Kellington and Erichuk had the goals, the latter forging the tie with nine seconds left in the third period. Langenegger was solid in goal.

    The Tk’emlups Wolves went undefeated in round-robin play at a tournament in Osoyoos over the long weekend, but then were eliminated in a semifinal game.

    The Wolves opened with a 7-1 victory over the North Shore Winter Club. Hunter Klassen, with two, Brendan Roche,  Lukas Duckworth, Seiji Brown, Kordell Primus and Brendan Roche scored for the Wolves. Brown added two assists, as did Primus and Roche. Jarrett Larsen was in goal.

    The Wolves then downed North Vancouver 9-1, with Nathan Thiessen and Austin Morphy each scoring twice. Evan Schmidt, Roche, Brown, Elias Wallace and Duckworth adding a goal each. Brown had three assists. Dalton Johnston got the goaltending victory.

    In the last round-robin game, the Wolves dumped Grand Forks, 7-0, with Larsen getting the shutout. Klassen, with two, Josh Bymoen, Roche, Luke Rodrigue, Morphy and Chad Petrie had the goals.

    The run ended in the semifinal with a 4-3 loss to the Trail Smoke Eaters, who broke a 3-3 tie late in the third period. Morphy, Rodrigue and Primus scored in support of Johnston.

    PEEWEE TIER 2

    The Player’s Bench Raiders spent the weekend at the Kelowna Remembrance Day Classic, where they placed third.

    The Raiders went 3-0 in the round-robin before losing a semifinal game.

    On Friday, the Raiders got three goals from Brendan Mongey and beat Kelowna, 6-2. Parker Matheson, Zac Austin and Bennett Hunter also scored, while Wyatt Brook drew two assists. Kendra Woodland was in goal.

    On Saturday, Mongey added three more goals as the Raiders bounced Castlegar, 7-1. Hunter, with two, Harrison Rosch and Gabe Graham-Boyde also scored, while Garrett Kellington had three helpers. Nicolas Boehm got the victory in goal.

    Woodland earned the shutout on Sunday as the Raiders beat Peninsula, 7-0. Mongey scored twice, as did Brook. Singles came from Conan Poss, Christopher Buchanan and Matthew Richardson. Colten Gerlib had two assists.

    In the semifinal game, the Raiders dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to Rossland/Trail. Brook and Hunter had the goals, with Boehm in goal.

    BANTAM FEMALE TIER 1

    The TK’Emlups Mystixs played three weekend games.

    The Mystixs opened with a 6-1 loss to Kelowna, with Sarah Bickerton scoring the Kamloops goal.

    On Saturday, the Mystixs dropped a 6-0 decision to the Salmon Arm Silvertips midget girls side.

    On Sunday, the Mystixs lost 6-3 to the Kamloops midget female Tier 1 team. Kacey Seymour, Bickerton and Brianne McCaffrey scored for the Mystixs. The midget girls got two goals from Chanelle Petrie and singles from Catriuna Young, Jordan Finnie, Libby Gotttfriedson and Jaclyn Frilund.

    Emma Gottriedson was in goal for the Mystixs in all three games and had a terrific weekend.

    MIDGET TIER 2

    The North Kamloops Elks went 1-2-1 at the Abbotsford Memorial tournament over the weeekend.

    The Elks opened Thursday by playing to a 2-2 draw with Merritt. Cole Clifford and Stuart Beckett scored for the Elks, in support of goaltender Riley Woodland.

    Also on Thursday, the Elks, with Nolan Munden in goal, beat Chilliwack, 3-1. Matt Wojak, Monty Chisholm and Adam Hildebrandt had the goals.

    On Friday, Kelowna scored with 27 seconds left in the third period to beat the Elks, 4-3. Jake Latin, with two, and Colton Griffith scored for the Elks. Griffith also had two assists. Riley Woodland was in goal.

    On Saturday, the Elks fell 6-4 to Prince George. Monty Chisholm had three goals and Eric Heichert had a goal and three assists for the Elks. Munden was back in goal.

    MIDGET TIER 1

    The North Kamloops Lions was the silver medal at a tournament in Abbotsford on the weekend.
    Results weren’t available.

    They will play at Memorial Arena on Saturday, 5:30 p.m., and Sunday, 1:15 p.m.
