January has been a very difficult month in Kimberley, for anyone involved in the cull of 100 deer - both those responsible for carrying it out and those opposing it.
However, it's almost over. Coun. Darryl Oakley reports that as of Tuesday, 86 mule deer had been taken and it appeared that the cull was on track to be done by week's end.
During the course of the cull, Oakley says three white-tail deer were taken, but released unharmed.
"I think everyone will be quite relieved that it's over," Oakley said.
The traps will now be sent to Invermere for that municipality's cull.
