Nitros take two of three games on road trip

Two out of three wins while on the road isn't bad for the Kimberley Dynamiters.

Especially when you consider they only won one game the last time they did three games in three nights.

The Nitros headed into Sicamous, dropping their first game 5-2 against the Eagles, but rebounded in Armstrong with an 8-0 thumping of the North Okanagan Knights on Saturday and a 4-2 win against the Golden Rockets on Sunday.

The Eagles got some revenge on the Nitros, as they lost to Kimberley earlier in the season.

The Dynamiters got outshot in the second and third periods, as Sicamous built off a 3-1 lead in the first period, adding two more in the following frame. Kimberley only managed to respond with one goal in the opening and second periods.

Sicamous only needed three minutes to open the scoring, as Steven Powers put his club up on the board, which was followed with another goal a few minutes later by Brendan Devries.

Colton Vannucci of the Nitros managed to cut the deficit in half with eight minutes left in the period, but Connor Buick struck again for the Eagles with a couple minutes to go.

Richard Hubscher put Kimberley within one when he scored near the halfway mark of the second period, but the Eagles kept coming, scoring twice by the end of the frame on efforts from Matt Reed and Buick.

Jeremy Mousseau stood in between the pipes for the loss, making 28 stops, while Eagles stopper Jack Surgenor made 20 saves.

The Nitros vented their frustration the next night by pounding away eight goals into the Knights' net in a decisive win.

Despite getting outshot in the first two periods, the Nitros led by six going into the final frame.

Rylan Duley had a four point night with two goals and two assists, while Richard Hubscher tallied five points with a goal and four helping markers.

Hubscher opened the scoring less than a minute into the game and Tyson Valette doubled up after the halfway mark.

Kimberley romped through the second period, scoring four separate times-twice on the powerplay-off efforts from Jordan Revie, Eric Buckley, Taylor McDowell and Duley.

The deluge of goals continued into the third, as Duley notched his second of the game and Mark Strachan put another marker on the scoreboard.

Braeden Ostepchuk earned the win for the Nitros this time, turning away 33 shots for the shut out, while the Knights' Dustin Nikkel got chased from the net after two periods to be replaced by Blake Puetz.

The Nitros powerplay was working, scoring on five separate opportunities; the penalty kill equally effective in warding off eight separate Knights' powerplays.

The Dynamiters rolled into Golden with some confidence and took a 4-2 win against the Rockets, overcoming a first period deficit to take the win.

The Rockets spilled first blood on an early goal from Kyle Garcia, but Hubscher drew the game back to a tie by the halfway mark.

Jacob Bergeron scored a powerplay goal a few minutes later to put the Rockets ahead, but it would be all Dynamiter for the rest of the game.

Duley scored two goals in the second period and Connor Kutzner added the fourth goal in the third frame to seal up the win.

Ostepchuk got the start and made 23 stops to earn the win, while the Nitros peppered 49 shots on Cole Henson.
