Dennis Graber and his Kamloops/Prince George rink are tied for first place going into the third day of the Tim Hortons B.C. senior men’s curling championship in Kelowna.
Graber played two games on Wednesday and won them both, beating Brian Gessner of New Westminster 6-5 in the morning and coming back with a 6-3 triumph over Kelowna’s Rob Koffski in the afternoon draw.
Graber, who plays with Brian Windsor of Kamloops and Prince George curlers Garnet Boese and David Johnston, was trailing Gessner 5-3 after seven ends, only to score one in the ninth and then steal two in the 10th for the victory.
Against Koffski, Graber counted two in the ninth to erase a 3-2 deficit and then won it with a steal of two in the 10th.
In Wednesday’s late draw, Graber was beaten 5-4 by Richmond’s Ken Watson.
When yesterday’s play was done, Graber was tied with Gessner, Watson and Doug Meger of New Westminster, all having 3-1 records.
Graber has two more games scheduled today, against Meger at 10 a.m., and Ralph Will of Sparwood at 3 p.m. Graber will conclude the round-robin portion of the eight-rink competition on Saturday morning against Sparwood’s Ken McHargue. Will and McHargue both are 1-3.
The final will be played Sunday.
