Kamloops’ newest hotel, Best Western Plus in Sahali, has earned a certification from the chain for its use of a green technology for cleaning.

The hotel said it uses a “aqueous ozone solution” to clean guestrooms, eliminating 95 per cent of chemicals normally used. It is also looking at utilizing the technology for laundry.

Stantec, an international engineering and consulting firm with an office in Kamloops, has been named one of Canada’s best diversity employers.

Now entering its sixth year, the competition recognizes employers across Canada that have exceptional workplace diversity and inclusiveness programs.

The rating comes from the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, who analysed companies for their range of diversity inititatives, including women, members of visible minorities, persons with disabilities, aboriginal people and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered individuals.
