TRU Briefs: Postseason honours for Gunter and King

Another TRU WolfPack player has been named to the CIS's men's volleyball all-rookie team.

Brad Gunter, a 6-foot-7 freshman from Courtenay, earned the honour on Thursday, making him the fifth WolfPack men's volleyball player to make the team. He follows Robin Schoebel, Gord Perrin, Josh Boruck and Kevin Tillie, none of whom still plays for the WolfPack.

Gunter averaged three kills and 3.40 points per game, leaving him 16th in Canada West in both categories.

Justin King broke new ground for the WolfPack men's basketball team on Thursday.

King, a transfer guard from Las Vegas, was named to the Canada West second all-star team. He is the first WolfPack men's basketball player to make a conference all-star team.

King appeared in 16 games for the WolfPack, his 23.1 points per game the best in Canada West. He also led the conference in free-throw shooting percentage (89.6 per cent) and defensive rebounds (8.3 per game).

The TRU baseball team's doubleheaders in Coquitlam have been cancelled due to weather.

TRU was to play the Douglas College Royals in a pair of doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday. Its original back-up plan had the WolfPack going to Moses Lake for exhibition games, but those also have been cancelled.

    TRU won't play this weekend.
