As the Thompson-Nicola Regional District directors get paid, so, too, do the same people when they sit on the Thompson Regional Hospital District meetings.
And so when one board gets a raise, so does the other.
Last month, the TNRD board voted themselves a 1.7 per cent increase for 2012.
On Thursday, the THRD board (which usually sits in the morning on the same day that the TNRD meets in the afternoon) voted itself a matching increase of 1.7 per cent.
The vote, held Thursday, generated no discussion, just a show of hands in favour of the increase.
The remuneration hike means Thompson Regional Hospital District board chair Peter Milobar gets compensated $3,830 a year.
The directors’ pay is more complicated. They get $140 for each meeting, plus an additional $10 to $190 for travel time, depending on distance.
Last month, the Thompson-Nicola Regional District board — which is comprised of the same people — approved a 1.7 per cent jump in remuneration to keep up with the cost of living.
