    Training Talk: Arjun Singh

This Run Club week has been going much much better. I made it to a Sunday morning training session! It was great to see a lot of people there. Mayor Peter Milobar, his wonderful wife Lianne, and their son Ethan were in my group. Daily News Publisher Tim Shoults was in another. Just to name a few. My rough count was over 100 awesome people.

At the Tuesday Run Club training I attended, some wise person mused “running gives you more energy”. This has been true for me. This past Sunday morning, the four minutes walking / two minutes running (six times) seemed really daunting. And it was in the beginning. From the middle of the workout, however, things got easier. This was a pleasing, surprising revelation.

After the workout, we were led on an amazing stretch routine. I only wished I could remember all the exercises. I am writing them down next Sunday! Then, we were given an informative talk about choosing running shoes from Wayne at the Runners Sole. The chocolate milk, bananas, and draw prizes were a great addition to the talk!

Also, this week, I went to see my Doctor for a physical. Dr Yanko has a wonderful and positive disposition but he also laid some slightly worrying stuff on the table. I have had high blood pressure for some time and he advised me that if I don’t lose weight, it could get worse. He basically said don’t quit, keep going, the training is helping.
