At least five people were hit by bear spray outside Hotel 540 on Victoria Street Thursday at about 10:15 p.m.
Kamloops RCMP said the incident occurred during a verbal confrontation between three men. One of the trio sprayed the other two, as well as a woman who was with them, and two passers-by.
The suspect fled on foot, while the other people affected had difficulty breathing and blurred vision. They were taken to Royal Inland Hospital for treatment.
Kamloops RCMP said everyone except the passers-by knew each other. They are seeking a warrant for the suspect’s arrest and are calling for at least five charges of assault with a weapon.
