We live in a beautiful city! We really do. I have been spending a lot of time over the last few weeks running on the Rivers Trail. With the addition of the new pedestrian bridge over the railroad tracks at the end of Victoria Street I can now run from my house down Pine St., over the bridge and out to the beginning of the Joseph Ferguson trail, turn around and run back to Riverside Park and then back to my house. It’s an excellent circuit!
Running that route gives me wonderful views of the city and the amazing sunsets we have been having. What has been the most exciting, however, is seeing the city come alive. In the beginning, I would run that route and never see a single person. Now, I can’t run that trail without seeing at least 10 other people! The trees are starting to flourish, the ball fields are active and the dog owners are out for strolls. It’s great to see that MOVEMENT IS CHANGE!
As this is my last column, I would encourage everyone to join me and the rest of Team TRU on April 29th for Boogie the Bridge. You don’t need to have gone through all the training that I did, you can do a 5 or 10 KM walk or run and it’s for a great cause: Big Brothers and Sisters. Use this event as the kick start to your summer. You will feel great, the energy is truly amazing and you will appreciate our spectacular city!
