Think art is something you just hang on a wall? Well, think again.
The Kamloops Art Council presents Body Beautiful: Art Redefined — a showcase of tattoo and body art using live models at Instinct Adornment, 319 Victoria St., on Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Models are staged in 20-minute sittings with a free-hanging body-sized frame in front of them, presenting them as a live exhibition, said Kathy Sinclair, manager of the Kamloops Arts Council.
“The show acknowledges the body as art, in and of itself,” she said. “The body is the canvas, the medium is ink.”
Body Beautiful originated in Kamloops in 2006 and has been recognized by Arts B.C. as something inventive and unique, said Sinclair.
This year’s event is part of the Kamloops Arts Council’s Downtown Artwalk and is a part of B.C. Arts and Culture Week.
