A year off for rebuilding is almost complete for the ever-popular Silver Follies. Now the seniors’ variety act is looking for a new place to call home.
Spokeswoman Betty Barker said the 10-man-and-woman troupe was reduced to six or seven when some members decided to move on or take a break. As a result, the annual spring fundraiser at the Pavilion Theatre was cancelled this year.
Now that the ranks have been filled, the Silver Follies are preparing for a show, tentatively scheduled for April 2013, Barker said Wednesday.
“The Pavilion is already booked up,” she said. “It’s full of shows.”
The Silver Follies hope to perform in a local church or hall. Anyone interested in donating space is asked to phone Barker at 250-434-6657.
Barker said people can expect the same mix of music and sketch comedy fans have come to enjoy with a Silver Follies show. Some members might be new, but the spirit of the group continues.
“We’ve got some really talented people.”
