TRU Roundup: Edwards to play hockey for 'Pack

Chase Edwards will join former Kamloops Storm linemate Tyler Jackson on the TRU WolfPack for the next B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League season.

Edwards, who had 83 points, including 45 goals, with the junior B Storm last season, has signed with the WolfPack. He is the fourth recruit to sign with TRU — Jackson, Anthony Delong and Brennan Wright, all forwards, are the others.

Edwards and Jackson have been teammates since their minor hockey days, and played on a line with the Storm in 2011-12. Edwards, a Kamloops native and Sa-Hali grad, hopes to get into TRU’s natural resources and sciences program.

“Once I found out (Jackson) was coming here, it made the decision to commit to the WolfPack even easier,” Edwards said in a press release. “We are good friends and grew up together. Last year, he helped me get a lot of goals because of his great passing skills.”

The TRU WolfPack will play four Canadian College Baseball games at NorBrock Stadium this weekend.

TRU is scheduled to play two games each against the Calgary Dinos and Vancouver Island Baseball Institute Mariners.

The first game is scheduled for Friday, 6 p.m., against the Dinos, with a rematch scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. TRU and VIBI will meet Saturday, 7 p.m., and Sunday, 12:30 p.m.

The WolfPack (11-9) has had varying degrees of success against these teams, winning all four meetings with Calgary, and losing three of four with VIBI.

TRU is scheduled to play host to the CCBC championship at NorBrock from May 11-13, its next home action.

The Pacific West Athletic Association golf season is months away, but the TRU WolfPack is looking for players.

The WolfPack only has one returning player from last season — Chase Broadfoot. The program is run by Bill Bilton Jr., and his assistant coach, Kevin Ricalton, a former player.

Anyone interested in trying out for the WolfPack can email Bilton (billjr@golfthedunes.com) or Ricalton (Kevin@golfthedunes.com).
