Care business reopens less than a week after fire

A Baker Street business that went up in last Tuesday's fire has regrouped and reopened less than a week later.

Holly Malfair, owner of We Care Home Health Services, said that thanks to the help of Cranbrook businesses, their Cranbrook office was able to reopen in a new location this week.

"It's business as usual as of Monday (April 30)," Malfair said.

We Care Home Health Services is headquartered in Vernon, with offices in Cranbrook and Kamloops. When Malfair heard about the fire, she came down to Cranbrook right away. She and her son and local staff set about seeing what they could do to reopen as soon as possible.

The Cranbrook office had only opened last July.

"It felt like déjà vu," Malfair said. "Going around to Staples, buying everything again. Hopefully we won't have to go through that again."

Remax was able to locate office space, and the business is now operating out of #201, 13-14th Avenue South (upstairs in the "Vineyards" building across from Safeway).

We Care Home Health Services provides home care, nurses, care aids, and conducts drug and alcohol testing.
