Doggie doors open at EKSPCA

The dogs and cats at the East Kootenay SPCA are yipping and meowing for everyone to come out for a visit for the annual Open House event on May 5.

The event, billed as an animal-themed day of fun, presented by Hill's Science Diet, will welcome the public from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The pets will be put on show for the public to browse. Anyone looking to add a new family member will get a good opportunity to see what pets are available.

Besides the cute and cuddly pets, there will be an information booth and refreshments, and staff will be on hand for shelter tours.

"The open house series is an opportunity for people to meet the animals available for adoption and to have fun learning more about how to help animals in the community," said Lorie Chortyk, general manager of community relations for the BC SPCA.
