A Cranbrook woman has stepped forward seeking to represent the B.C. NDP in the 2013 provincial election.
Norma Blissett of Cranbrook has announced that she will seek the nomination in the Kootenay East provincial riding.
Blissett is a forester and a teacher and has lived in Cranbrook for the past 17 years. She is currently teaching science and math at Mt. Baker Secondary School.
"We're looking at having a nomination at the end of the summer," Blissett said. "We'll see if other people come forward, so we have a nomination race."
"I've been involved in political action on a municipal level," she said. "I've seen that in order to make a difference you need to be involved in the political process. So that's where I'd like to direct my energy.
"It's a whole new adventure," she added.
Blissett plans to spend her summer travelling throughout the riding meeting and listening to the local people.
