Real, magnificent roses from Marlene to her dear neighbour Shirley, “who works tirelessly over the winter and spring months, growing from seeds, hundreds upon hundreds of bedding plants to sell. All the proceeds go to the Run for the Cure. Now that’s what I call community spirit. Kudos to you, Shirley.”
Antique roses from Fred to the person who found his thermos bottle at Friskin Lake on May 17 and put it where he could find it when he went back later. “I just wanted you to know that your kind thoughts were certainly appreciated as I have had that thermos for over 40 years and I value it. Good people do good things, so thank you. I caught the same number of fish today as I did last week — zero.”
Thorns in a minor key of disharmony from Noralee to whoever stole her Mother’s Day hanging pot of petunias from the front porch of her home in Brocklehurst. “The Mother’s Day arrangement was a gift from my choir, they are such a kind and thoughtful group. It was an expression of their appreciation for a long, work-filled season. The Mother’s Day hanger was a large and beautiful one likely purchased from a local retailer. I have never owned one of these before because they are so expensive. And if I ever get one again, I will likely have to chain it up or keep it in the backyard. How sad. They were taken on Sunday night (or early Monday morning in the wee hours) of the long weekend.”
A lane full of roses from Jenelle Kirk “to the wonderful person who paid for our bowling on May 18. A wonderful stranger heard it was my birthday and paid for 10 of us to bowl two games and our bowling shoes. I would like to say thank you to that wonderful person for making my birthday. Random acts of kindness rock!”
