Randall Hopley has been charged with two new charges in relation to an incident in Crowsnest Pass that were heard in Cranbrook Provincial Court on June 11.

Hopley is now accused of break and enter and commit an indictable offence and possession of stolen property over $5,000. The new charges are said to have been committed in Crowsnest, Alta, but no other information was entered into court.

Hopley previously plead guilty in March to abduction and break and enter in relation to the abduction of three-year-old Kienan Hebert last September. He is set to be sentenced on those charges on July 18.

After Hopley was arrested in September, police told reporters he had been staying in a disused cabin at a gravel pit in Crowsnest Lake, Alberta.

Hopley did not appear, but instead was represented by William Thorne, who asked that the matters be adjourned to July 16 and that a bench warrant application also be adjourned as Hopley remains in custody.

The court was informed by the B.C. Sheriff Service that Hopley will be in custody in Cranbrook on July 16, awaiting a July 18 sentencing hearing on the abduction charges, and would be available to appear in person.

Kienan was taken from his Sparwood home on Sept. 7, 2011. The abduction set off a search across the Kootenays and into Alberta.

Police issued an amber alert, saying that Kienan disappeared from his bed overnight wearing only Scooby Doo boxer shorts.

Scores of volunteers joined emergency personnel on a massive manhunt, but Kienan was mysteriously returned to the family home physically unharmed four days later after his parents gave a public, emotional plea.

On September 13, Hopley was found by police sniffer dogs at the gravel pit in Crowsnest Lake and taken into custody.
