    Minor Lacrosse: Bantam Rattlers rock the house

    BANTAM

    The Kamloops Rattlers No. 2 ran away with the Rock The House tournament in Armstrong on the weekend.

    Kamloops got off to a hot start, beating Delta 8-4. Josh Bosher, with three goals, and Brendan Bickert, with two, paced the offence. Kaiden Merz, Brayden Jones and Kailey Bankier also scored in support of goaltender Ethan Milobar, and Ty Robinson was MVP.

    Milobar again posted the victory as Kamloops defeated Coquitlam 8-3. Bosher had four goals, with Bickert and MVP Merz each scoring twice.

    Bosher had six more goals and earned MVP honours as the Rattlers pounded host North Okanagan 10-4 in the third game. Merz, Bankier, Jones and Donovan Lambert also scored in support of winning goaltender Paige Dairon.

    Dairon backstopped the Rattlers past Delta 7-6 in the championship final. Bickert took MVP honours with a three-goal effort, with Bosher scoring twice and Robinson and Merz singling.

    NOVICE

    Harrison Ewert scored with 1:25 remaining to lift the Kamloops Rattlers Selects to a 5-4 victory over Ridge Meadows in the bronze-medal game of the Advanced Blue (tier 2) division at the New Westminster Bellie Bowl tournament on Sunday.

    Ewert’s winning goal was his third of the game. Trey Dergousoff and Noah Bradley also scored to help the Rattlers claim victory.

    The Rattlers had advanced to the medal round after going 2-1 in pool play. They opened with a 5-3 loss to Port Moody on Friday night. Dergousoff, Ewert and Nolan Virgo provided the Kamloops offence.

    The Rattlers then dumped host New Westminster, 7-1, and got past their eventual bronze-medal opponent Ridge Meadows, 5-3, on Saturday.

    Ewert scored three times and Dergousoff added two against New West, with Virgo and Jackson Steed rounding out the scoring.

    Dergousoff, with two, Bradley, Steed and Ewert scored against Ridge Meadows.

    Reed Watson stood tall in the Rattlers’ net throughout the tournament.

    The Rattlers Selects have one more tournament this season, the Jack Crosby All Star Novice Invitational, July 5-8 in Burnaby.
