    Minor Baseball: Red Sox lose in the rain

    BANTAM A

    The Kamloops Red Sox travelled to Kelowna on Saturday, losing a soggy, tight, battle to Kelowna 11-10.

    Mathew O’Laney started on the mound for the Red Sox, with relievers Marcus Pratt and Nick Heinemann combining to shut down Kelowna. Pratt and Heinemman allowed one run over two innings, before Brandon Bourgo closed out the game.
    D.J. Lapierre scored three runs, and  Dallas Antonia and Bourgo each came around to score twice.

    Lucas Lott, Ken Massalski and Heinemann also came home with runs.

    BANTAM AAA

    The RiverDogs picked up one victory in four tries at Richmond.

    Kamloops opened with a 9-3 loss to the Richmond Chuckers.

    Brendan Coulter struck out nine over five innings, and also drove in a pair of runs in the loss. Connor McKenzie had two hits, including a double, with Riley Jepson singling twice and Talon Bennett and Sam Avila each coming through with hits.

    Kamloops stumbled in its next game, a 22-2 loss to Victoria Red. Avila and Brad Whitehead had hits.

    The RiverDogs showed some gumption in bouncing back to beat Victoria 16-8. McKenzie hammered out four hits, with Whitehead bringing home five runs with a double and two singles.

    Lance Martin also had a double among his two hits, with Bryant Jameus, Avila, Trey Chisholm and Vincent Daley coming through with hits. Daley and McKenzie also drove in a pair of runs apiece, with Coulter also bringing home a run and Martin earning the pitching victory. Whitehead also pitched in relief.

    The RiverDogs finished the weekend with a 12-2 loss to Victoria. Avila and Blaise Brewer had hits.
