Volunteer Kamloops is a non-profit charity supporting community volunteering.
The Seniors Outreach Society: Good Morning Program volunteers will call seniors as a daily check on their well-being and as a friendly call each day. Volunteers make the calls between 9 a.m and 11 a.m. Monday through Friday, according to the client’s preferences. If the client is unable to be reached, then an emergency contact person, arranged in advance, or a staff member will be called to check on the well-being of the client. Emergency steps taken if necessary.
ASK Wellness: Volunteers needed Sept. 22 for the AIDS Walk for Life. Volunteers are needed to help with registration, handing out water, directing walkers, handing out information, set-up and cleanup.
Timeraiser: Volunteers needed on Wednesday June 20 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to help with venue setup, hanging artwork, organizing tickets, handouts, tables and running last-minute errands. Between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m., volunteers are needed for greeting participants, to act as silent auction marshals, help with registration and answer questions related to the event (information about event provided). The Shayla Rae Dawn Driver Memorial Bursary Fundraiser: Looking to fill a variety of positions for mature and positive people for Saturday, July 14. Volunteers are needed to help set up and tear down event, manage booths, handle cash and do face painting.
Big brothers Big Sisters of Kamloops and Region: Special-event volunteers needed for July 12, July 19 and Aug. 16 at Riverside Park to assist with set-up/take down, concession, activity booths and garbage cleanup. Looking for volunteers who enjoy working with the public and willing to represent our agency.
Kamloops Arts Council: Event volunteers needed for Art in the Park Sunday, July 1 — Canada Day: Setup crew needed from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Runners and sitters are required from 9 a.m to 1 p.m. or from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. They will check booths, keep an eye out for lost children, help artists watch booths and assist at performance stage. They will switch off between above jobs and sitting at Arts Council booth. Sitters are needed from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. to sit at the Honours tent (outdoor art gallery), possibly other odd jobs (keeping an eye out for lost children, distributing literature, etc). Take-down crew is needed from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
