    Minor Soccer: MacKenzie great in goal as Blaze beats Kodiaks

    U14 BOYS

    Mathew MacKenzie posted two shutouts as the Blaze Tier 1 team won the regional A Cup playdowns in Prince George on the weekend, beating the host Kodiaks 1-0 on Saturday and 2-0 on Sunday.

    Tukker Tomlin scored the goal Saturday, with Mathew MacKenzie posting the shutout.

    On Sunday, Stefen Nesci and Kyle Hutton had the goals.

    The Blaze, which will be in the Baker Blast in Bellingham this weekend, will play in provincials at McArthur Island, July 5-8.

    The Blaze Tier 2 side was eliminated from TOYSL playoffs thanks to a scoreless draw with the host Penticton Pinnacles.

    After the teams played through two overtime periods, the Pinnacles won a shootout tiebreaker to eliminate the Blaze.
    Kamloops are in the Baker Blast in Bellingham this weekend.

    U16 BOYS

    The Blaze picked up a victory and a tie in Prince George as they challenged to represent the B.C. Interior at the A level Provincial Cup.

    The Blaze won 3-1 on Saturday and played to a 1-1 draw Sunday.

    Logan Zimmerman, Zach Hanghofer, Austin Alentejano and Cole Belland had the goals.

    The Blaze will be in Bellingham this weekend, then will play in provincials at McArthur Island, July 5-8.

    U14 GIRLS

    The Blaze qualified for the provincial A Cup championship by defeating host Prince George in a two-game playoff.

    Kamloops won the opener 3-0 on goals from Hannah McDonald, Hannah Marra and Sasha Sirianni.

    On Sunday, Prince George won 1-0, but the Blaze won the two-game series 3-1.

    Brenna Worsfold was in goal for the Blaze.
