    Kamloops Idol adds mini-Idol

B.C. Living Arts is getting set to host Kamloops Idol again at Canada Day Celebrations in Riverside Park. The competition is open to singers aged 14 and older. Register — there’s a $20 fee — with Kamloops Live! Box Office at 250-374-LIVE or wwww.kamloopslive.ca.

The first round of auditions starts June 28-29 at centre court in Aberdeen Mall. The rest of the competition takes place on Canada Day. Last year’s winner, Amy Watters, 16, who won both audience choice and judges’ choice awareds, will perform at the Rotary Bandshell at 6 p.m. on July 1.

This year, a new division has been added — Kamloops mini-Idol for singers aged 8 to 13. First auditions for this will be held at four different schools starting June 25 and ending June 28. From those first auditions, 50 singers will be invited to perform at Aberdeen Mall on June 30. Ten kids will be chosen to compete in the finals.

For complete details, visit www.bclivingarts.ca. Registration for mini-Idol can be done at any school front office in the district.
