Girl, 17, seriously injured when run over at Tree Flats bush party

A 17-year-old girl was seriously injured after being run over by a truck during a massive bush bash at Tree Flats on Monday night.

At around 1 a.m., a witness reports, the girl was running near a truck that had been idling at Scuitto Lake Forest Service Road where up to 1,200 teens had gathered for a party.

She lost her footing as the truck advanced and it ran over her, not stopping.

She received serious injuries including a broken shoulder, broken rib and a punctured lung.

The witness says it’s possible the driver wasn’t aware he’d run over someone.

A parent that had planned to pick up some of the teen partiers drove the girl back home. Her mother subsequently brought her to Royal Inland Hospital. The girl is now home, according to a police report.

The witness could only describe the truck as an unmodified, dark pickup with an open box.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the RCMP at 250-2-828-3000.
