Garret Toma experienced both ends of the Kamloops Major Men’s Fastball League spectrum on Tuesday night at Charles Anderson Stadium.
He started the evening by taking the loss as his North Thompson Titans dropped a 10-0 five-inning run-spread decision to Norther Trailer and Scott Austin, who tossed a three-hitter and struck out eight.
Later, Toma picked up the victory and smacked a two-run home run as the Titans dumped the first-place Cardinals, 6-3.
In the opener, Toma gave up 11 hits, including three each to Matt Pouncy and Austin. Pouncy had a double and two singles as he scored twice and drove in two runs. Austin also drove in two runs while scoring once.
In the nightcap, the teams were tied 3-3 going into the bottom of the fifth when Ron Lampreau rapped a one-out triple and scored on Starr Francois’ single. Toma then pounded a two-run homer and the game was stopped on time limit.
Antoine Sargent, who pitched the last two innings for the Cardinals, took the loss.
