Premier Christy Clark is scheduled to be in Kamloops Friday to attend an announcement by Telus on its new Internet data centre.
Telus president and CEO Darren Entwistle will make a “significant” announcement to mark plans for construction of the $30-million centre, the company said. The notice also mentions a commitment to building healthy, sustainable communities in the Thompson-Okanagan region.
Clark will hold a media roundtable at TRU before joining Margaret MacDiarmid, minister of labour, citizens’ services and open government, for the announcement at 1458 McGill Rd., the site of the data centre.
The Telus project is expected to create 200 construction jobs and 75 permanent ones.
