Outdoor movie at Riverside Park to raise money for Big Brothers & Big Sisters

An outdoor movie run by FreshairCinema is coming to Riverside Park on July 12 with proceeds going to Big Brothers & Big Sisters.

“We are very excited to start the Interior Savings Moonlight Movie Tour in a great venue in Kamloops where the whole family can enjoy a free movie night, ” FreshAirCinema festival organizer Jason Bashnick said in a press release.

“For the past few years, we have seen well over 2,000 people per night attending these events — people simply love the experience of watching a movie outside.”

FreshAirCinema works alongside Cinema4Change, a not-for-profit organization whose mandate is to use the power of film to strengthen communities and improve lives.

“Proceeds from the Kamloops event this year will be directed to Big Brothers & Big Sisters,” Bashnick said. “We believe our event provides them with a great way to raise awareness and important funds to continue the work they do.”

The Interior Savings Moonlight Movie Tour is one of 18 shows in communities across the Thompson Okanagan. In Kamloops the event will be held on Thursday, July 12, with pre-movie event activities starting at about 6 p.m.

The movie presented at dusk will feature the most recently animated Dr. Seuss environmental story featuring the orange creature that speaks on behalf of the Truffula trees.

FreshAirCinema uses a four-storey-high inflatable movie screen, creating a complete movie theatre experience.
