Family classics hit silver screen at Riverside Park

Kamloops movie fans get to double their viewing pleasure this summer with a chance to watch classic family favourites on a giant inflatable screen in Riverside Park.

The Interior Savings' Moonlight Movie Tour touches down in 14 Interior communities in July and August and features three movie nights in Kamloops.

"The tour attracts over 10,000 people each year and to date has raised over $50,000 for programs that help youth develop leadership and life skills," said Kathy Conway, Interior Savings' CEO.

There's no charge to attend, but a donation of $3 per person or $10 for a family of four is encouraged with all proceeds benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kamloops and region.

"We strive to ensure that every child in Kamloops and region that needs a mentor has a mentor," said Terri Axani of the organization.

A concession, pre-show entertainment and kids games start at 7 p.m. with the show starting at dusk.

On July 12, Dr. Seuss's The Lorax hits the screen, featuring the grumpy yet charming creature of the title name who fights to protect his world. On July 19, introduce another generation to the timeless classic E.T. And on Aug. 16, Shrek provides laughs at Riverside Park.
