Dog owners will now find it easier to clean up after their pets in Cranbrook parks.
The Playpen has donated five pet waste stations to be installed around the area.
Two have been installed in Kinsmen Park, another two will soon be put up in the Community Forest, and one is making its way to Fort Steele.
Karla Shalley, owner of The Playpen Pet Boarding and Grooming, got the idea last fall when she was walking her dogs.
"My facility is close to Moir Park. I take my dogs often to walk through the park and noticed that there was quite a bit of feces around," said Shalley.
"I approached the city, requesting that I would purchase and donate some poop bag dispensers if they would allow me to put them at Moir Park."
Instead, the city asked that the waste stations be installed at Kinsmen Park, so Shalley went ahead with her plan.
"Any local park has issues with people not cleaning up after their pets so I would hope this would alleviate that problem," she said.
"It's preventive. Pick up a bag and down the line you won't have to walk all the way back."
