The TRU WolfPack baseball team obviously is quite popular with the White Rock Tritons.
Three of the Tritons, who play in the B.C. Premier Baseball League, have agreed to attend TRU in September and play for the WolfPack.
Shortstop Tony Tabor, infielder Tanner Sandstrom and catcher Evan Douglas have chosen TRU as the place where they will begin their academic and collegiate baseball careers.
“I thought the campus was amazing,” Douglas said in a news release. “I’m really looking forward to using the impressive facilities.”
Sandstrom also liked what he saw.
“I felt very strong that I wanted to go to TRU once I got to have a full showing of the campus, facilities and the awesome baseball program they have to offer,” he said. “With two of my teammates going there as well, it is going to make it a lot easier to make the transition to university.”
The Tritons are 10-28 in the BCPBL. Douglas is hitting .273 with 27 hits, including five doubles, and two stolen bases. Tabor is hitting .243 with 26 hits, including three doubles and a triple, and 11 stolen bases.
Sandstrom, who switched from pitching to the infield, has four stolen bases.
All three were part of the 2007 White Rock team that won provincial and national championships and then represented Canada at the Little League World Series.
