A thief got away with firearms and booze after breaking into a trailer in Savona over the weekend.
The break-and-enter in the 6200 block of Savona Acces Road happened between 5 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday. Stolen in the heist were two firearms - a 308 bolt action Harrington & Richardson and 3030 lever action Winchester rifle. Also taken were two life jackets, two oars, a 26-ounce bottle of Teacher's whiskey, between $600 to $1,000 in loose change and some beer from the fridge.
A forensic identification officer uncovered physical evidence and will follow up, according to a police news release. Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call the rural detachment at 250-314-1800 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
