Paintball event raises funds for AIDS affected

Ankors is working in collaboration with Echo Field Paintball to host a unique fundraiser.

On July 27, 2012, all proceeds from every game of paintball purchased that day will go to help people who are affected by or have HIV/AIDS.

Ankors (AIDS Network Kootenay Outreach and Support Society) will be on hand that day, hosting a free barbecue. To book a time at Echo Field Paintball call 250-417-2845.

Ankors also announced it is holding its 13th annual AIDS walk on September 16, 2012. The walk will take place at the Family Connections Building beside the skate park from 12:30 to 4 p.m. As well as the walk, the event will feature hula-hooping, belly dancing lessons, and local retailers on site.

All contributions to this event are used by HIV-positive residents of the East Kootenay/Boundary region to help pay for medical costs related to HIV.

From 2003 to 2009, there were 13,686 people newly testing positive for HIV in British Columbia. The cost per person who is HIV positive is about $250,000.
